VIVA North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi said the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) would make the best master plan for the 2024 National Sports Week (PON).
This was conveyed by Governor Edy when giving a presentation on the 2024 PON in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali, which was also attended by the Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah at the Anjong Mon Mata Building, the Aceh Governor’s Hall Complex, Banda Aceh, Thursday 24 February 2022. .
“We will design the best possible, the needs of events, transportation, hotels and others,” said the former chairman of PSSI.
PON 2024, North Sumatra will be the co-host with Aceh. Edy explained that the master plan is not only about the venue or event organization, but also transportation, accommodation and other needs. It aims to develop Indonesian sports, satisfy athletes, officials, and also the community.
Currently, the North Sumatra Provincial Government has prepared about 300 hectares of land for the construction of the Sport Center and also venues outside the Sport Center. Meanwhile, North Sumatra has prepared five five-star hotels in Medan, 15 four-star and 31 three-star hotels. Outside the city of Medan, there are six five-star hotels and nine three-star hotels, which are located in Berastagi and Lake Toba.
Not only that, North Sumatra has also prepared adequate transportation and health facilities. A total of 12 hospitals are ready to support the success of the Aceh-North Sumatra PON.
“Accommodation and transportation in North Sumatra are very adequate, now we will complete the sports venues. Likewise with the referees, we want professional referees or even from abroad to be more objective,” said Edy.
