Lionsgate has just released the newest teaser trailer for the disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich, Moonfall. This epic new trailer gives us an even more in-depth look at the action and suspenseful scenes we get to see as the moon hits Earth. As we all know, Emmerich is best known for his catastrophic and thrilling sci-fi films like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrowand 2012.
The trailer opens with the voice of Donald Sutherland’s character telling viewers that what they were taught about the first moon landing was not true. To maintain the mystery and suspense, Sutherland’s character adds, “This planet has experienced five extinctions. This will be the sixth.” After that, the trailer featured massive floods and tsunamis, civil unrest, fires, alien-like creatures, and the mass evacuation of the entire West Coast. Following all the disasters, the teaser trailer shows a scene where Halle Berry (Catwoman), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), and John Bradley (Game of Thrones) fly towards the lunar epicenter in their spaceships at the end of the promo.
The film is slated to hit theaters on February 4, 2022. With its current release schedule, Moonfall will be “battling” the new horror thriller Blumhouse The Black Phone, and Paramount Pictures’ Jackass Forever.
Moonfall itself will be enlivened by various talented actors such as Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Charlie Plummer (Spontaneous), Halle Berry (John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum), Donald Sutherland (Ad Astra), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Carolina Bartczak (X-Men: Apocalypse), Eme Ikwuakor (Inhumans), Maxim Roy, and Stephen Bogaert (The Umbrella Academy).
In the film, it is told that a mysterious force displaces the Moon from its orbit and makes it slide into a collision course with Earth. With just a few weeks before the collision, and Earth launches a dangerous mission into space, with a special team that requires them to abandon everyone they love and risk everything to land on the lunar surface to save our planet from destruction.
