Hugh Grant Joins Timothée Chalamet in Wonka

Hugh Grant reported has joined Timothée Chalamet (Dune) on the Warner Bros. project. Pictures which is a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, details regarding the character he will play in the film entitled Wonka is still a secret. The British actor may have already started filming for the scenes he involved himself as he was recently spotted on the set of this musical fantasy film.

Hugh Grant will next be seen in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film alongside Jason Statham entitled Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerreand in other fantasy films Dungeons & Dragons.

Wonka will focus on young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory. The prequel will be helmed by Timothee Chalamet who plays the younger version of the eccentric Chocolate Factory owner

Willy Wonka was created by Roald Dahl and first appeared in the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In his classic tale, Wonka hides five Golden Tickets in his chocolate bar and the lucky winners will travel to his factory on a private tour. After testing each child’s moral character, Wonka reveals that he is retiring and has appointed a boy named Charlie to be his successor. Dahl then wrote a follow-up book in 1972 entitled Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.

Dahl’s novel was later adapted as a film in 1971 under the title Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Gene Wilder played Wonka in the film with Peter Ostrum playing Charlie Bucket. Johnny Depp then took over the role of Willy Wonka in the 2005 Tim Burton-directed film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Freddie Highmore playing Charlie.
