The first foldable smartphone powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is here. Yes! The smartphone is the Magic V introduced by Honor and has a folding screen measuring 7.9 inches, and a cover screen measuring 6.45 inches.
No less interesting, the 7.9-inch cover screen is supported by a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels (21:9 aspect ratio). Yes! The dimensions of the external screen are much closer to what you see as on ordinary smartphones in general.
Even so, Honor still emphasizes the importance of having a usable cover screen on the Magic V. In fact, Honor is very confident in comparing the solution it offers from the launch stage with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold3.
The main screen uses a 7.9-inch flexible OLED panel that offers a refresh rate of 90Hz and a resolution of 2272 x 1984px. The aspect ratio here is 10.3:9 which is split into two areas that are close to 21:9 aspect using the two apps side by side.
This smartphone user is also promised by Honor that he will get HDR10 + support and 10bit color and a peak brightness of up to 800 nits. Honor Magic V is also the first foldable smartphone to be proud of thanks to the IMAX Enhanced certification.
Honor also doesn’t sacrifice the camera sector, because this folding screen smartphone arrives with support for three 50 MP cameras on the back. Yes! The main camera is 50 MP with a 23 mm equivalent lens, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera with a 13 mm equivalent, and a 50 MP color spectrum shooter.
There are two 42 MP selfie cameras placed in the punch-hole on the cover screen and on the main screen. Honor comes with 12 GB of RAM, as standard on all versions of the Magic V with a variety of internal storage, including 256 GB and 512 GB. As for the power supply, there is a 4,750 mAh battery with 66W fast charging via cable.
For the software side, this smartphone is dressed by the Magic UI 6.0 interface based on Android 12. Honor Magic V comes in Titanium Silver, Black, Burnt Orange colors. Prices start at CNY 9,999 (Rp 22.5 million) and go up to CNY 10,999 (Rp 24.7 million)) for the 512 GB storage trim.
This foldable smartphone by Honor will go on sale first in China, which is scheduled for January 18, 2022. Unfortunately, Honor has not confirmed when this foldable smartphone will be sold outside of China. So, let’s just wait, considering the trend of folding screen smartphones is starting to rise this year.
