VIVA – The Central Board of the Indonesian Hockey Federation (PP FHI) is increasingly showing its existence to develop hockey in the country. Most recently, they managed to make history by bringing Indonesia for the first time to host an Asian hockey tournament.
The championship is named AHF Men’s Cup 2022 (Men’s AHF Cup 2022). The entire series of tournaments will be held at the GBK Hockey Field, Jakarta, 11-20 March 2022.
This tournament is one of the qualifications for the participating teams towards the 2022 Men’s Hockey Asian Cup. The top three teams will qualify directly for the highest tournament at the Asian level.
In this edition, the 2022 AHF Men’s Cup consists of 10 participating countries including Indonesia. The Red and White Team itself is in Pool B along with Oman, Singapore, Bangladesh, and Iran. Meanwhile, Group A contains China, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
The General Chair of PP FHI, Major General TNI AD, Budi Sulistijono, stated that the status as the host of the 2022 AHF Men’s Cup was a great honor for PP FHI which was recently recognized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
“We are honored that Indonesia has been appointed to host the 2022 AHF Men’s Cup. This is an honor from the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) to PP FHI and must be carried out as well as possible,” said Budi to VIVA.
“We will try to be a good host and we ask for the blessing of the Indonesian people so that this tournament runs safely,” he continued.
