VIVA – Indonesian boxing promoter Armin Tan criticized the Indonesian Boxing Commission for making stricter regulations in carrying out boxing matches. This criticism was made after the national boxer from Malang Heru Purwanto alias Hero Tito died after a duel at the National Hollywings Gatsu Night Club, Jakarta on Sunday, February 27, 2022.

Armin said that the authorities related to national boxing must add items related to the health conditions of athletes who will compete. He also asked the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) to encourage the making of regulations for the future of the national boxer.

“After this incident, we hope that it will be changed a bit, don’t be too dirty with the Indonesian boxing commission in granting a match permit, which in my opinion is a meager medical examination. Only a stethoscope and blood tests are not enough. Both boxers who compete in the national championship must undergo an MRI test, HIV test, Hepatitis tests, you have to do that, otherwise it will happen again,” said Armin, Friday, March 4, 2022.

Hero Tito versus James Mokoginta match took place in the National event at Hollywings Gatsu Night Club, Jakarta on Sunday 27 February 2022. Hero Tito and James were involved in a duel for 10 rounds to fight for the lightweight belt of the Indonesian Boxing Association (ATI) at the Holywings Sport Show.

This match was fierce, both fighters exchanged blows at the beginning of the round. Until finally a horror incident approached Hero, precisely in the 2nd minute of the seventh round. James, who was initially hit by a barrage of jabs from the Hero, got up.

He took advantage of a small gap in the Hero’s defense, his cross uppercut hit the Hero’s chin. This boxer from Malang suddenly fell, the referee counted down and Hero was declared defeated because he could not continue the match.
