Warner Bros. finally launched a hilarious teaser from the animated film DC League of Super-Pets which tells the story of a “four-legged” superhero couple and stars Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Super Dog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound. DC League of Super-Pets will hit theaters on May 20, 2022, with a new trailer arriving this November.
Join Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson in a new cast of voices DC League of Super-Pets is Keanu Reeves (John Wick), John Krasinski (A Quiet Place), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Diego Luna (Andor), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Vanessa Byer (Saturday Night Live) and Marc Maron as the voice of Lex Luthor.
Besides Krypto, the film will also feature other characters such as Ace the Bat-Hound, Streaky the Super Cat, Supergirl’s horse, Comet, and two super-powered monkeys, Gleek and Beepo. They will face the supervillain’s pets such as the Joker’s two hyenas Bud and Lou, Lex Luthor’s iguana named Ignatius, and Penguin’s trained birds.
Project DC League of Super-Pets first announced in July 2018, but only started moving forward on a development front when Johnson joined the project in May this year. The film is written and directed by Jared Stern (The Lego Batman Movie) and directed by Sam Levine. While the producers of this film are Stern himself and Hiram Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Patricia Hicks.
The Super-Pets film concept is based on the Legion of Super-Pets story which first appeared in 1962’s Adventure Comics #293 and was created by Jerry Siegel, Curt Swan, George Klein, and Milt Snappin. Legion of Super-Pets was later removed from the DC Comics mainstream in 1986, but the team was later reintroduced in 2017.
