VIVA – The national training swimmers faced fierce resistance from non-training swimmers in the Indonesian Time Trial National Selection towards the 2022 SEA Games Vietnam.

The National Time Trial selection was followed by national and non-platinum swimmers who were ranked in the national top 10 which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta, 10-12 March 2022.

The preliminary round starts at 09.00 WIB and the final round starts at 17.00 WIB.

Vice President of PB PRSI, Harlin Rahardjo said, the National Time Trial Selection was aimed at selecting the 16 core swimmers of the Indonesian National Team who will compete in the 2022 SEA Games Vietnam according to the quota set by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and KOI.

After 3 days of Time Trial, the names of the 16 swimmers will be submitted to the SEA Games committee. In this national selection, said Harlin, the national training swimmers still dominate.

“National swimmers still dominate. But young swimmers should also be wary of being able to break into the top two. For example, in the 100 meters freestyle, Serenna Muslim from West Sumatra (18 years) competed with Patrisia Yosita and in the 50 meter breaststroke, Adelia (18 years) almost beat Vannesae Evato,” said Harlin.

“Even a 20-year-old swimmer, Pande Made Iron Digjaya, was able to beat his senior Gagarin Yus in the 50m breaststroke. There were also young swimmers aged 13-14 years who also performed well,” explained Harlin.
