HBO has just released a new promo for the Peacemaker series which will premiere on HBO Max in January 2022. Written by James Gunnwho also directed five of the eight episodes, the series is the follow-up to The Suicide Squad will focus on John Cena’s character from the film.
Besides showing the uniqueness of the main character in interacting with his colleagues, this clip also introduces Peacemaker’s pet/best friend, an eagle named Eagly. After joking for a moment about the fact that the Peacemaker had shown up to the restaurant in full costume, they then joked about the name of the eagle.
As noted above, Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the Peacemaker series and directed five episodes. The other three episodes were directed by Jody Hill, Brad Anderson, and Rosemary Rodriguez.
Serial Peacemaker will show John Cena to reprise his role in The Suicide Squad. Accompanied by Steve Agee as John Economos, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante/Adrian Chase, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn. The series will also feature Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christopher Heyerdahl, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Rizwan Manji, Nhut Le, Aison Araya, and Lenny Jacobson.
The series will explore the origins of the character Cena will play in the film The Suicide Squad, a man who believes in peace. He will try to achieve it at any cost – no matter how many people have to be removed to get it.
FYI, character Peacemaker created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette and first appeared in the Fightin ‘5 comic series originally owned by Charlton Comics. He is a man who believes in peace at all costs – no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The first incarnation of the Peacemaker was Christopher Smith, a pacifist diplomat and son of a Nazi death camp commander who founded the Pax Institute to fight dictators and warlords.
