Jakarta, IDN Times – GK – Plug and Play Indonesia (GK PNP) again brought a number of large corporations in Indonesia to visit its headquarters in Silicon Valley last October.

The corporations that participated in this visit were Astra International, BNI, BTN, Sinarmas, and BRI. One of the main activities in this visit is, following Plug and Play Fall Summit 2017.

In Fall Summit which lasted for three days, more than 100 startups accelerator Plug and Play does pitching before investors, corporate partners and international media.

Among them supply chain & logistics, energy & sustainability, new materials & packaging, food & beverage, and fintech.

“Our goal is to bring Indonesian corporations to attend the Plug and Play Fall Summit, so that they can get more” insight about the technology being worked on by startups in Silicon Valley. From there, ideas for collaborations with our startups in Indonesia will be born,” said Wesley Harjono, President Director of Plug and Play Indonesia in a release received by IDN Times.

This visit is a form of realization of Plug and Play’s promise to President Joko Widodo to support Indonesia to become the center of the digital economy in Southeast Asia by 2020.

In addition to providing funding and mentorship to digital startups, GK – Plug and Play is also a bridge to connect startups with corporations.

And currently, Plug and Play has hundreds of corporate partners worldwide and four in Indonesia, namely Astra International, BNI, BTN, and Sinarmas.

One of the first generation startups of GK – Plug and Play Indonesia that has collaborated with corporates is KYCK and BNI.

“We saw how Plug and Play brought together attractive corporations and startups so that each corporation could find new value in its innovation framework. We hope that this kind of collaboration can be carried out in Indonesia,” said Kaspar Sitomorang, Head of Digital at Bank Rakyat Indonesia, who was also present during the visit to Silicon Valley.

Paul Bambang, Director of Astra International, said that there are many ideas that will happen in Indonesia in the next 5-10 years.

“I see that there will be surprises in the next few years. And collaborations like this must be built so that innovation can continue,” said Paulus Bambang.
