VIVA – Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Indonesia, Zainudin Amali, emphasized the important role of the Sports Journalists Section (SIWO) of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in the successful implementation of the National Sports Great Design (DBON) through news coverage in the mass media. To that end, the Menpora has also signed an MoU with SIWO.
This was conveyed by Amali when attending the DBON socialization and a series of activities for the 2022 National Press Day in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
“We look to PWI and SIWO to provide support. Because, no matter how good DBON is, no matter how good the regulations in the Presidential Regulation are, but without being known by the public, it will not be implemented in the field,” said Menpora Amali.
“We really hope for support from PWI members, especially SIWO members. For that we will enter into an MoU and a cooperation agreement,” he continued.
It is not without reason that the Minister of Youth and Sports asked SIWO PWI to escort DBON’s journey. He did not want his flagship program to suffer the same fate as the previous programs.
“We have to take care that DBON does not become like the previous programs, where the design is good and the rule of law is strong, but when the implementation is weak and eventually disappears. I don’t want DBON to be like that,” explained the man from Gorontalo.
The Minister of Youth and Sports also expressed his appreciation to PWI and SIWO who have given awards to a number of regional heads for their attention to the world of national sports. “This is a sign of concern from fellow journalists who are members of PWI and SIWO, especially to the development of national sports,” he added.
