Recently, party Naughty Dog reveal a first look image of the live-action series The Last of Us adapted from their popular game series. The photo shows the two main characters from the HBO series standing on a hill with their backs to the camera. The scene in front of them seemed to depict a post-apocalyptic world.
The photo released via the company’s official Tweeter account shows Joel, played by Pedro Pascaland Ellie, played by Bella Ramseywas looking up at the grassy hill with the wreckage of the plane that had fallen on it.

Joining Pascal and Ramsey in the series are Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller, Nico Parker (Dumbo) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as Marlene, leader of the resistance group known as the Fireflies. The Last of Us also features Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch) as Perry, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) as Frank, and Con O’Neill (Chernobyl) as Bill.
This TV series will take place twenty years after modern civilization was destroyed. The series’ story will follow Joel (Pascal) as a survivor hired to smuggle a teenage survivor named Ellie (Ramsey) out of an uncomfortable quarantine zone. The journey soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking one, as the two of them must traverse various foreign territories and depend on each other for survival.
For your information, The Last of Us is an action-adventure horror game played from a third-person perspective. The game was developed by Santa Monica-based developer Naughty Dog, who is also best known for making Uncharted games. It first launched in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and in 2014 for the PlayStation 4 where the game immediately received critical acclaim for its narrative, gameplay, visuals, sound design, and characters.
The game’s storyline follows the adventures of Joel and Ellie, on their journey through a radically changing world. Set twenty years after a contagious pandemic spread by the Cordyceps virus devastated humanity, these two people, brought together by chance, must make a life-changing decision to survive. The game explores themes of survival, loyalty, love, and redemption on an emotional expedition across the post-epidemic United States.
This live-action series is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions. And it is hoped that they will be able to release the series in mid-2022.
