Warner Bros. finally revealed the official title of the third film Fantastic Beastswhich is now titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Apart from that, they also set a new release date for this film.
Originally slated for a July 15, 2022 release, the fantasy film sequel has now been moved three months earlier and is currently slated to hit theaters on April 15, 2022. With this new release date, the film will face off against a Paramount Pictures film.Lost City of D starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, and the Universal Pictures animated film Bad Guys.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore featuring the return of Oscar-winning actors Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Jessica Williams as Professor Eulalie Hicks, and Callum Turner as Theseus. And this sequel will also introduce Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange) as Gellert Grindelwald, an evil character previously played by Johnny Depp.
As we all know Warner Bros. some time ago asked Depp to resign from the film franchise Fantastic Beasts after she lost a libel lawsuit against a British tabloid for calling her a “wife-beater” in a news article.
While the official synopsis of this film is:
“Professor Albus Dumbledore is aware that the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to rule the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead a team of brave, wizards and a Muggle on a dangerous mission, where they face mystical and magical creatures and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long is Dumbledore just going to sit around there?”
David Yates is directing this sequel from a screenplay written by JK Rowling and Steve Kloves, who will also co-produce with David Heyman, Lionel Wigram and Tim Lewis.
