VIVA – Gresini Racing team racer Enea Bastianini made history by winning his first MotoGP victory after winning the Qatar MotoGP, Sunday 6 March 2022. He dedicated his success to the late Fausto Gresini.
Riding a Ducati GP21, Bastianini showed his class and emerged as one of the serious contenders for the 2022 MotoGP world championship after shining under the spotlights of the Losail International Circuit that day.
Brad Binder also made a surprise appearance to secure P2 for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team after a tight finish 0.3 seconds later.
Pol Espargaro, who led most of the race, completed the podium at the opening race of the season with his second podium finish in his Honda shirt.

“My feeling now is great because I pressed from the start, but the most important thing was to keep the tires until the end of the race,” Bastianini told MotoGP.
“When I saw Pol pressing, I overtook Binder in the race. In the end Pol was very close to me and then I thought I could win this race. Then I overtook him in the first corner when he went wide.”
