VIVA – The final match of the Australian Open 2022 women’s singles, which pits Ashleigh Barty against Danielle Collins, has just ended on Saturday afternoon WIB, 29 January 2022.
The match which took place at the Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, was highly anticipated by the host public because Barty had a chance to break the record of the Australian women’s tennis player which had lasted for 44 years.
The women’s singles world number one has the opportunity to repeat the achievements of Chris O’Neil, who was recorded as the last women’s singles player for the hosts to win the Australian Open in 1978.
The host’s long wait seemed to be over easily when Barty was able to win the first set quite convincingly.
Had faced fierce resistance from Collins at the beginning of the match, Barti got the momentum of excellence when he successfully broke in the sixth game to lead 4-2.
Barty was even more dominant after maximizing her serve in the next game and widening her advantage to 5-2. Having been stuck, Barty finally sealed the first set with a 6-3 victory after sweeping all the points in the ninth game.
In the second set, the flow of the game suddenly changed. Collins was surprisingly able to lead 3-0 by winning the first three games.
