INDOSPORT.COM – The FIA ​​has finally officially announced that it will cancel the 2022 Formula 1 (F1) Russian GP race series due to the war with Ukraine.

Previously, the FIA ​​and Formula 1 said they would continue to review the matter of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday (24/02/22) local time.

But not long after, both parties finally announced that the 2022 Russian GP F1 championship which took place at the Sochi Circuit was officially canceled on Friday (25/02/22) night WIB.

“The FIA ​​Formula 1 visits a number of countries around the world with a positive vision to unite people and nations,” read a statement on Friday (25/2/2022).

“We watch developments in Ukraine with sadness and shock and hope for a speedy and peaceful resolution to the current situation and conditions.

“On Thursday evening, Formula 1, the FIA ​​and the team discussed our sporting position, the conclusion of which is, including the views of all relevant stakeholders, that it is impossible to hold the Russian Grand Prix under the current circumstances.” said the FIA ​​statement.

Previously, Sebastian Vettel also boycotted the plan to hold the 2022 Russian GP F1 race in the midst of the war situation between Russia and Ukraine.
