Not wanting to be left behind with Netflix, Apple TV+ is now also starting to develop a Korean series with their first project entitled Dr. Brain. They have even released the first trailer for the series which will start airing on November 3rd. Dr. Brain adapted from the popular Hongjacga webtoon of the same title and starring Lee Sun-Kyun (Parasites).

The six-episode Korean thriller series will follow the story of Sewon, a brilliant brain scientist who is faced with a terrible personal tragedy. When his family is caught in a mysterious accident, he must use his research to perform a special procedure called “brain synchronization” that allows him to see the memories of the dead. He will use this technology to find out what happened to his family and will not stop until he gets an answer.

Dr. Brain will star Lee Sun-kyun, who is widely known for his role in the Academy Award-winning film Parasite. The trailer for the series teases fans with some elements of horror as shown when brain synchrony begins to overlap with memories between user and subject, manifesting as hallucinations.

The series will be directed by Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters, I Saw the Devil), who also serves as writer and executive producer. Joining as co-writers are Kim Jin A and Koh YoungJae. Dr. Brain will also star Lee You-young, Park Hee-soon, Seo Ji-hye and Lee Jae-won.

This is the synopsis from Dr. Brains:

“Dr. Brain follows the story of a brilliant brain scientist named Sewon (Sun-kyun) who suffers a terrible personal tragedy when his family becomes the victim of a mysterious accident. Desperate to uncover what happened, he goes to great lengths to solve the tragic mystery by “brain syncing” with the dead to access their memories for clues.”

The series is produced by Bound Entertainment, Kakao Entertainment, StudioPlex and Dark Circle Pictures for Apple TV+. Dr. Series Brain will join the ever-growing lineup of international Apple Original dramas from global award-winning filmmakers.
