A new promo clip for the series Chucky recently released featuring Don Mancini, the creator of the franchise Child’s Play, which teased fans about what to expect from the first season of the SYFY and USA Network series. The series creator and executive producer discussed wanting to take the series’ story back to the roots of his Child’s Play franchise, which this time will involve several teens, and how they use Chucky “as a metaphor for bullying.” He also said that fans will cheer and laugh, but that he also hopes to make people cry because of the “real-life pain” depicted in the series.
Serial Chucky will be set in a beautiful small American town that finds its way into chaos when a series of gruesome murders sweeps in and threatens to expose the hypocrisy and secrets of the city. It all started after the quirky Chucky doll appeared at a secondhand shop. At the same time, the demon puppet must deal with the arrival of enemies and allies from his past who threaten to uncover the truth behind the murders.
Don Mancini also revealed new details about the main characters and the reasons why they decided to make the series.
“The main character of the series is a 14-year-old gay boy who is bullied and disoriented after the recent death of his mother,” said Mancini. “He is a young artist who makes sculptures using parts from various used dolls. He found Chucky at a secondhand shop and then bought him.” He continued, “One of the things I want to do is take him [franchise] goes back to Child’s Play roots and makes the main protagonist a teenager.”
Cast line Chucky will consist of some old faces from this fanchise as well as some newcomers. Jennifer Tilly will also return as Tiffany Valentine, Chucky’s “wife.” Other cast members of this series are Zackary Arthur, Lexa Doig, Devon SawaBarbara Alyn Woods, Teo Brione, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson.
