Recently, Disney has officially announced the release date for The Haunted Mansion. A film inspired by the famous Disney theme park rides. They reveal that we can see the film in theaters in just over a year from now on March 10, 2023.
So far the cast or stars who will be involved in this project are Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Owen Wilson (Loki), and Rosary Dawson (Briarpatch, The Mandalorian). However, the studio is still keeping secrets about the characters they will play, so we don’t know who each of the actors will portray.
The Haunted Mansion will be directed by Justin Simien (Dear White People) from a screenplay written by Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation). Like the cast and characters, we know very little about the Haunted Mansion plot. So far, it has been reported that the film will center around a mother and daughter pair.
While trying to find a new place to live, the mother and daughter pair are then summoned to a spooky old house. And then they realize that the building holds ancient secrets and mysteries within its walls, the mother and daughter come face to face with the lost spirits that still cling to that terrifying abode.
Previously The Haunted Mansion ever produced as a live-action film, starring Eddie Murphy in 2003. In this film, Eddie Murphy plays a workaholic realtor who and his family are trapped in a mansion inhabited by ghosts. But the film failed to live up to studio expectations after grossing only $182 million worldwide.
Project The Haunted Mansion comes after Disney presents Jungle Cruisewho used the charisma of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt to create another success based on amusement rides. Jungle Cruise has so far made $193 million at the international box office as the pandemic still affects theaters. Disney has also confirmed that they will be making a sequel Jungle Cruiseindicating that the studio is investing in the idea of expanding their theme park ride to become a profitable film franchise.
