VIVA – The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) 2022 has officially announced that all matches which were held today, Wednesday 2 February 2022, had to be postponed. This is related to the presence of COVID-19 among the players.

In fact, there are four matches that will be held today, namely Pacific Caesar Surabaya against Dewa United Surabaya, West Bandits Solo versus Evos Thunder Bogor, Bumi Borneo Pontianak against Amartha Hangtuah Jakarta, and Satria Muda Pertamina against Bali United.

Unfortunately, several players from Dewa United, Bumi Borneo, and Satria Muda tested positive for COVID-19 based on the results of the PCR test on February 1, 2022.

Some of these players are Dio Tirta and Kaleb Ramot Gemilang (Dewa United), Arion Thio and Raymond Shariputra (Bumi Borneo) and Antoni Erga, Avan Seputra and Laurentius Steven Oei (Satria Muda).

Therefore, the entire team must undergo a PCR retest to ensure the condition of all players and officials. So, inevitably all matches today have to be postponed in order to mitigate the spread of the virus while maintaining the security and safety of all parties involved.

“We have to do all of this in accordance with the health protocol guidelines and mitigation procedures that have been set by the IBL,” said Dr. Panudju from the Royal Sports Medicine Hospital, which is an IBL partner, quoted on the IBL official website.
