VIVA – The first day of the MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika circuit on Friday 11 February 2022 was hampered. The committee had to raise a red flag and stop the session because the circuit conditions were very dirty.
Fortunately after cleaning, the test can be resumed. Pol Espargaro became the most shining on the occasion.
After the first day of testing, the drivers also shared their experiences about the Mandalika circuit, which they had tried for the first time, including the dirty track situation.
Alex Marquez is the one who tells about the unpleasant experience. He admitted that he was hit by gravel that bounced off the track.
“The worst part was Turn 1 and the last corner. It was like a different asphalt, and at Turn 1, (pointing to the throat hit by the gravel), you could see it,” said Alex quoted by Crash.
“I was behind the other riders, it was unbelievable. Like a gun, or something, boom in my neck,” he explained.
However, said Alex, as time went on, conditions got better. The speed of the racers on the track also makes them feel like cleaning the track.
