VIVA – The draw for the men’s doubles sector at the prestigious All England 2022 badminton event is not profitable for Indonesia. Based on the results released by BWF on Tuesday, February 22, four of the six Red-White pairs had to clash with each other in the first round.
They were Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto who immediately met Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, while Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan met Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana. The other two pairs are the first seed, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and the second seed, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan.
In response to this, the head coach of men’s doubles Herry Iman Pierngadi chose wisely. He felt this was a risk from the many representatives sent.
“I think it’s one of the risks if we field many pairs in one tournament. In the men’s doubles there are now six pairs at the All England, the risk is that they will meet alone but not all of them. But we have to go through that process because the ranking of three pairs, namely Pramudya / Jeremiah, Leo/Daniel and Bagas/Fikri are still in their 20s. So the chance to meet yourself is great,” said Herry in an official statement from PBSI, Thursday, February 24, 2022.
“This is a process, later after many competitions and rankings rise, we will rarely meet each other at the beginning. I think all countries are the same, sometimes they experience these things,” he added.
Herry also ensured that his foster children were not affected by the lottery results. Preparation is their only focus at the moment ahead of the approaching departure to Europe.
“The preparations have been good. For those who did not participate in the Asian Team Championship yesterday, the training was continuous. It remains only to finalize the pattern of play and maintain conditions, especially for Fajar / Rian who will play in the German Open first. The target for the men’s doubles at All England is to reach the final first, later In the final, anything can happen,” said Herry.
