After going through various stages of selection and judging, the long awaited night finally arrived. The 2021 Indonesian Film Festival Anugerah Night event was held at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Centre. The 2021 Citra Cup award ceremony was broadcast live exclusively on Kompas TV and the Indonesian Film Festival Youtube channel, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, My Culture, and the Kompas TV YouTube channel. The highest award for Indonesian filmmakers was also attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo.
The event was enlivened by the appearance of Andi Rianto & Magenta Orchestra, Eki Dance Company, Eka Deli, Putri Ayu, Diskoria & Eva Celia, Nadin Amizah, Happy Salma, Angga Yunanda, Jefri Nichol, Prilly Latuconsina, and Tissa Biani. The nominations for the award category were read out by Bhisma Mulia, Cut Mini, Dea Panendra, Dian Sastrowardoyo, Djenar Maesa Ayu, Hanung Bramantyo, Jourdy Pranata, Lukman Sardi, Luna Maya, Marsha Timothy, Mira Lesmana, Rano Karno, Slamet Rahardjo, and Vino G. Bastian .
The performance of the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival which coincides with Heroes’ Day is a form of appreciation and support for Indonesian Filmmaker Usmar Ismail as a national hero. Since the beginning, the Indonesian Film Festival has taken the initiative to support the efforts initiated by the family and the 100 Years Team of Usmar Ismail by mediating the proposal of Usmar Ismail to become a National Hero to the government. Finally, on Thursday, October 28, 2021, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) as well as the Honorary Council Title, Mahfud MD, through his press statement on the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs YouTube, stated that Film Director Aji Usmar Ismail from DKI Jakarta was appointed as National hero. The title will be given by President Joko Widodo on November 10, 2021, to coincide with Heroes’ Day at the Bogor Palace.
At this FFI event, the film Copying Cahaya won the highest award for the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) Citra Award Night as the Best Feature Film. In that category, the Light Copyers beat Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens, Bidadari Seeking Wings, Cinta Bete, Paranoia, Light Copyers, Thugs, and Yuni. The Victory of the Light Copyer was read by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Makarim.
Penalin Cahaya also won the most awards from the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) by collecting 12 Citra Cups from 17 nominations received. Among them, Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actor. The copy of Cahaya tells the story of Sur (Shenina Cinnamon) who loses her scholarship because she is considered to have defamed the faculty after taking selfies of herself while drunk was spread.
A lifetime award for film goes to Jajang C. Noer. Her career as a film actress which began in 1970 spanned six decades with various brilliant achievements. From being a scriptwriter and being included in a number of films, she finally got a role in the film Lip Mer (1992) which won her the Citra Cup as Best Female Actor at FFI 1992. She again won the Citra Cup for the same category through her role in the film Cinta Tapi. Beda (2012) at FFI 2013. He has won a total of seven nominations and two awards at the Indonesian Film Festival.
