The newest adventure of the legendary anime saga, Bleach officially coming soon. This was revealed from the creator of the anime, Tite Kubo showing off footage from the series Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
During the ongoing Jump Festa event in Japan, Kubo surprised fans with a trailer for the anime that fans have been waiting for. In the trailer we’re treated to several new looks from all-too-familiar faces, including Ichigo as he prepares to try and battle the large number of Hollows that have invaded the World of the Living.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will be released in October 2022, and is produced by studio Pierrot and directed by Tomohisa Taguchi (Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna). Bleach anime character designer Masashi Kudo is also returning to work on the new series. In light of the announcement, Viz Media announced that they have secured the worldwide rights (excluding Asia) for the upcoming series.
The story of this new series is adapted from the “Thousand-Year Blood War” storyline which tells the story of a Hallow in the human world. Things get worse when a sudden spike in Hollows gets killed in the World of the Living, and it’s even worse when a new enemy named the Wandenreich and their leader Yhwach appear to exterminate the Soul Reapers. With his trusty Zanpakuto sword, Ichigo must do his best to save the world and Soul Society.
Bleach itself is a manga series written by Tite Kubo who is the mangaka of Zombie Powder. The Bleach series was published in 2001, and since its publication, the series has been adapted into an anime series, two OVAs (Original Video Animation), four feature films, two rock musicals, and several video game titles. The Bleach manga compilation has sold 39 million copies in Japan. The manga is serialized in the weekly Shonen Jump.
Bleach tells the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student who has the ability to see spirits, and also Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami (god of death) who one day met Ichigo while hunting an evil spirit called a Hollow. When Rukia fought against the hollow, she was injured and because of that she had no other way but to transfer her shinigami powers to Ichigo. It is from this moment that Ichigo and Rukia’s adventure begins. The two of them are on an adventure to find and fight the hollows and carry out the ritual of consou for the wandering spirits.
