The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and ARTOTELGroup collaborated to present five exclusive Singapore-themed hotel rooms at ARTOTEL Thamrin-Jakarta. This collaboration aims to establish Singapore as an attractive tourist destination in the minds of Indonesians and encourage them to reimagine their trip to Singapore in the near future.
The five rooms feature wall murals painted by local Indonesian artists, namely Melissa Sunjaya, TUTU, IRSKIY, TUYULOVEME, and SICOVECAS. The wall murals are painted according to the artist’s interpretation of passion tribe which is in Singapore. So, guests staying in Singapore-themed rooms can pose in mural paintings for Instagramable photos, while re-imagining their vacation experience.
“STB’s collaboration with ARTOTELGroup, one of the leading boutique hotel and lifestyle groups in Indonesia, is expected to inspire Indonesians to visit Singapore. While planning a vacation back to Singapore through the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), Indonesian people can enjoy offers and attractive promotions to rekindle their travel dreams through a Singapore-themed stay experience that introduces Singapore’s tourist attractions, food, arts and culture to staying guests.” said Mohamed Firhan Abdul Salam, Area Director of STB Indonesia (Jakarta).
Curious about the five rooms? Check out the following, yes!
1. Kampong Gelam by Melissa Sunjaya
With the theme “Kampong Gelam”, Melissa Sunjaya designed the mural ‘Kayuputi’
or ‘Gelam’ in a rich cobalt blue. Kampong Gelam, a settlement in
Singapore has its own charm for tourists. The name of this area comes from
eucalyptus tree which in Javanese is called “Gelam”, and “Kampong” (modern spelling “kampung”) which means “village”.
2. Journey to Remember by Tutugraf
Entitled “Journey to Remember” TUTU designed a mural depicting
Singapore’s lively social atmosphere. The festivities are represented in the bold colors of the ‘nightlife’ atmosphere, an iconic heritage building in Tiong Bahru where lots of cool hangouts can be found, as well as the excitement and laughter of the socialisers (socializer).
3. Room within a Room by IRSKY
“Room Within a Room” by IRSKYY is a possible three-dimensional view
visitors to visually experience the various elements of the ‘collector’. Such as retail stores, nature, technology, and heritage, which are symbolized by the characters and objects in the mural.
4. Inside the Concrete Junge by TUYULOVEME
This room brings bright colors and cool shapes to spoil the eyes while walking around the Singapore area. Such as Kampong Gelam, Haji Lane, Arab Street, Bali Lane and Little India. “Inside the Concrete Jungle” by TUYULOVEME invites explorers (explorer) to reimagine the adventure through the bustling areas of Singapore.
