VIVA – The Executive Board of the All-Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) has summoned 16 male and female athletes to participate in the national training in preparation for the 2022 SEA Games and Asian Games.
Among the 16 names, there are still well-known names such as I Gede Siman Sudartawa, Glenn Victor Sutanto, and Azzahra Permatahani. However, PRSI did not forget to regenerate.
At least, about 30 percent of the national training athletes are inhabited by debutant swimmers. Among them are Andi Muhammad Nurrizka (East Java), Erick Ahmad Fathoni and Reza Bayu Prasetyo (West Java), as well as Joe Aditya, Flairene Candrea and Angel Gabriella Yus (Jakarta).
Deputy PB PRSI for Development and Achievement, Reswanda said the national swimming training began on February 3, 2022. He said preparations should be made as early as possible considering that Indonesia wanted to improve its achievements from the 2019 SEA Games, where the Red and White team could only win one gold medal through Siman Sudartawa.
PRSI calls 16 athletes to participate in swimming training
“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the efforts made by the PRSI Ketum PB, who directly contacted the Menpora and his staff, we were given the opportunity to present in detail what we have done and will do later. And the response from the Ministry of Youth and Sports is very good so that the swimming training can start on February 3,” said Reswanda.
“Currently we are starting with 16 swimmers, the number is likely to increase in the next few weeks. The most important thing is that we can start national training since February, there are many benefits ahead of competing in the SEA Games, which has 14 weeks remaining. This must be optimized,” he explained.
