VIVA – The Indonesian badminton men’s and women’s team stated that they were ready to fight. The Garuda Muda squad is ready to face a tough battle since the start of the group stage for the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships.
This readiness was conveyed by the manager of the Indonesian badminton team, Harry Hartono to respond to the results of the championship draw which will be held at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, 15-20 February 2022.
“Seeing the results of the draw, both the men’s and women’s teams, we are ready to fight. The preparations here are also quite good,” said Harry at the Sunway Clio Hotel, Selangor, Tuesday afternoon via a written message received by VIVA.
In the 2022 BATC draw which was held on Tuesday 8 February, in the men’s group, Indonesia was in Group A along with India, South Korea and Hong Kong. While in Group B, filled with Japan, hosts Malaysia, Singapore, and Kazakhstan.
“In the men’s section, we will meet India, Korea and Hong Kong. We are optimistic that we can give the best. And when we talk about the initial target, we will be able to qualify from the group stage first,” said Harry.
As champions three times in a row, in the men’s division, Harry confirmed, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo et al., are ready to face tough challenges that come from India, South Korea and Hong Kong. With the strength of young players, Indonesia seems to still be taken into account by the opponent.
“Even though we are strengthened by young players, we feel that all opponents are still taking into account,” said Harry, who was finally appointed to replace Rionny Mainaky, who failed to accompany the players to a neighboring country.
